Our Story.

Our journey began in 2021 at Towson University, where three best friends who were outdoor enthusiasts came together. We were inspired by how the outdoors positively impacted our lives. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the increasing isolation among our friends, classmates, and neighbors. More and more we saw our communities become less engaged and more distant. As a result, mental wellness declined. If this social and mental deterioration continued we knew our future would be in jeopardy. We recognized the urgent need for authentic friendships among young people across different cultures.

In response, we founded Mindful Movements, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing life-changing outdoor experiences. We aim to address the significant disparities in outdoor participation and access that we have observed.

Mindful Movements provides free to low-cost outdoor adventures that promote mental wellness and foster authentic friendships, crucial for our future. Through mindful group experiences in nature, participants discover our shared humanity and commonalities.

By collaborating with the outdoor program at Towson University, we hope to offer our peers and communities the same transformative experiences we have enjoyed. Our mission is to forge the friendships our future depends on, enhance mindfulness, and cultivate a passion for the outdoors and adventure.
